PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material with good radiation sensitivity thermoluminescence emission spectrum of which is in a near ultraviolet-green region, by adding Cu as an activator to a base material consisting of Li2O and B2O3. CONSTITUTION:Li2O. 2B2O3, a small amt. of B2O3 or H2BO3, and a small amt. of Cu powder, CuO or CuCl2 are melted in a platinum crucible at around 950 deg.C for 5-100min to obtain a thermoluminescence material contg. 0.002-1% of Cu as an axtivator to Li2O. (B2O3)x (2<x<=3). This material is more than four times as high as conventional Li2O.2B2O3: Mn in radiation sensitivity and can attain 10 mR as radiation detecting sensitivity limit, exceeding the sensitivity limit of a conventional film badge.
