<p>PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting apparatus, capable of causing pulse lighting of the lamp repeatedly at a high speed, by employing a second switching element for rapidly discharging the electricity charged in charge-and-discharge capacitor and interrupting a first switching element in the main discharge circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a second switching element SCR18 is ignited, electricity charged previously in capacitor 14 to a high voltage is discharged rapidily to discharge lamp 16. As a result, voltage of capacitor 14 is impressed on the cathode of a first switching element SCR17, so that SCR17 is interrupted by reverse biasing. Here, impedance of the discharge lamp 16 is decreased to a fairly low value by resson of the discharge, so that charging voltage of capacitor 14 is reduced to zero or to a negative value in a short while. Therefore, it is enabled to proceed immediately to the next discharge cycle and thus to cause pulse lighting at a high speed.</p> |
