The storage bed is for concrete reinforcing bars, there being a roller conveyor alongside the beds and loaded with bars from them in the transverse direction, the bars being then conveyed lengthways. The spaces between adjacent conveyor rollers (8) have footplates (7, 7', 7") which are at a lower level than the tops of the rollers, at least while bars are being transported. The plate ends (9, 9') can slope upwards towards the roller tops, ending roughly 10mm. below them. herringbone-pattern ribs can be formed on the plates, the interval between them being less than the diameter of the smallest bar, while their points face in the transport direction.
