Separating magnetisable particles from fluid - by introducing fluid into zone with rotating magnetic field

A device separates very fine magnetisable particles down to one micron in diameter from a fluid by introducing the fluid with particles into a zone (9) in which is established a rotating magnetic field (11). The particles are brought together to form aggregates and then removed. The zone may have the shape of a cylinder of revolution and the magnet surrounds the curved boundary of this zone. The magnetic field extends radially with respect to the zone axis. The magnet may have the form of a stator winding (6) of a three-phase motor.
