PURPOSE:To manufacture a good quality rolled steel material by carrying out low temp. region soaking under specific conditions, slow heating, rapid heating and high temp. region soaking at the time of rolling a high Mn steel ingot. CONSTITUTION:In heating of a high Mn steel ingot consisting of Mn; 10-16%, c; 0.3-1.2%, and the balance iron and inevitable impurities for rolling, low temp. region soaking is carried out in a qurnace of 550-850 deg.C for 3-5hr and slow heating to around 1,000 deg.C is carried out at a temp. rising gradient of 20-60 deg.C/hr for 4-6hr, followed by rapid heating at 50-100 deg.C/hr for about 2-3.5hr and high temp. region soaking in a furnace of 1,230+ or -30 deg.C for 4-15hr. The ingot thus heated is then bloomed to a product such as bloom, slab, billet, etc. By this method an inexpensive non-magnetic steel is obtd. which can be substed. for austentic stainless steel. |
