NEW MATERIAL:Title compound of formulaI(R is straight or branched chain alkyl of 2-7 carbon atoms). EXAMPLE:2-Chloro-2-cyano-7-pentylidenebicyclo[2,2,1]heptane. USE:An intermediate of 7-alkylidenenorcomphor useful as perfume. PREPARATION:6-Alkylfluvene of formula is reacted with the equimolar quantity of 2-chloroacrylontrile or an excess amount of it serving as the solvent at 0-50 deg.C to form 2-chloro-2-cyano-7-alkylidenebicyclo[2,2,1]-5-heptene of formula III. Then the compound is hydrogenated in the presence of 1-3WT% of palladium on the basis of the compound of formula III at 0-50 deg.C, preferably room temperature to prepare the objective compound of formulaI. |
