<p>The system gives continuous external drying of root crops, particularly potatoes. The tubers (36) are passed through a drum (2) rotating on an inclined axis and clad with a coating of absorbent material. The latter is dewatered at one or more points on the periphery, the fluid being collected in a trough (23) and drained away. The cladding can be on the inside of the drum, which also contains a squeezing roller (17) with one or more scrapers (22), below which the drain trough is mounted. The roller can bear against the drum along the uppermost part.</p> |
