Title compound (I ; R = Me, Et. Pr. Me2CH), useful as fungicide in lower concn., which has stable solubility in mineral oil and water and under alkali concns. were prepd. by reacting 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol with aldehyde in benzen contg P-toluene sulphonic acid, stirring acid, stirring the mixt. for 30 min., filtrating the soln., evaporating the filtrate on a rotary evaporator at 45≦̸C, and distg. the oily residue under vacuum. The yield was 85%.
