The machine has a shaft with an endplate which carries the ends of pistons. The pistons reciprocate in cylinders in a drum which is inclined at an angle to the shaft. The shaft is carried in two roller bearings which take both radial and axial thrust. The angle at which the rollers are inclined is the same for both bearings. Cylinders which receive fluid pressure exert an axial force on the housing ring of the drive side bearing. This is transmitted by a sleeve on the shaft to the piston end bearing and equalises the axial forces on the two bearings.
