In such a shedding device used in travelling-shed weaving machines, the warp threads are subdivided into a plurality of sections and are suspended on projections of bars (1) which are movable to and fro and are guided in parallel and which are arranged at least in two rows running transversely over the width of the weaving machine. The bars (1) are coupled to flexible pull members (9, 10) guided via rollers (7) between the rows of bars. One pull member (9) is moved to and fro by a drive (12, 13, 14) working in wave rhythm, whilst the other pull member (10) is moved in opposition. By means of the flexible pull members (9, 10), the shedding device is simplified in comparison with known devices and, furthermore, a silent vibration-free running of the device is achieved. <IMAGE>
