Sliding cutter for grooving blocks of rigid foam, etc. - e.g. for cutting service pipe channels in house insulation

The manual tool comprises a sledge which can be fitted with a pair of blades to produce successive inclined or curved cuts which intersect at the base of the channel. The blades are angled backwards as well as sideways and the sledge rides over the block supported by surfaces between the blades as well as each side of them. The tool is esp. used for cutting 'V' or 'U' profile grooves in e.g. blocks of rigid foam as used for house insulation, to provide channels for route service pipes etc. The knife moves easily because the out material is not simultaneously compressed. The handle and knife clamps may be mounted on a body riding on a false shoe which is interchangeable for different thicknesses to vary the depth of cut obtd.
