Plastics cable sheathing contains tensile fibres, singly or in grps. o improve its tensile strength. These (grps. of) fibres are embedded in the plastics sheathing in such a way that they surround the cable core, enveloped in the sheathing, helically or meanderingly at a pitch that it corresponds to the pitch of the (corded) core. The tensile reinforcements are coated with a lubricant or slip agent, being firmly bonded to the sheathing only at discrete sites.
