An articulated joint for supporting an object (4), such as a lamp, from a wall (1) uses a bolt (3) with a spherical head. The spherical head is clamped between matching seats (6, 7) which are screwed into the housing (5). The object is prevented from rotating about the longitudinal axis of the bolt by a pin in the wall of the housing which engages a slot in the spherical head. The object can be rotated to a limited degree about the other two mutually perpendicular axes and then locked in position by the lever (10).
