The cross-cut shear for trees comprises first and second cooperating blades, separate means pivotally mounting each of the blades, each blade having a straight cutting edge portion terminating in a convex arcuate cutting edge portion. The convex arcuate edge portions are directly opposed for first cutting when the blades are pivoted toward each other with the straight cutting edge portion subsequently cutting and abutting in closed relationship.
