PURPOSE:To apply the retrieval and processing of the presence of print informa tion and its density with high accuracy by diciding the presence and its density of print information based on a retrieval criterion following the retrieval object information always changing. CONSTITUTION:Job handling processing month number information, that is, the numbers of black point bits obtained in scanning 12 numerals from January to December are counted by a model pattern in advance, the presence of print and density decision criterion in scanning each month number information are stored as table information and in applying the deciding processing to the presence of print information and its density in the actual job handling processing, the said job handling processing month number is used as a key word and the information scanned actually is retrieved by using the corresponding table information. Thus, the criterion is not single but the presence of print information and its density are decided based on the decision criterion corresponding to a character pattern under the retrieval processing.
