The generator comprises a rectangular-section wind tunnel (4) with open inlet (7) and outlet (9) which can be turned in the direction of the wind. An upwardly inclined guide baffle (5) extends from the inlet in the direction of the outlet and forms an outflow opening (8) with the upper tunnel wall (10). The opening (8) is adjacent to a bladed rotor (6) rotatable on a horizontal shaft at right angles to the wind direction arranged near the outlet (9). The rotor is coupled to energy converting means, preferably an electrical generator (13). The tunnel may be pivotable about a vertical axis such that its centre of gravity lies behind the pivot as seen in the wind direction.
