In a method and apparatus for stamping a laminated product from a laminate comprising a base covered by a viscoelastic material, deformation of the base, and squeeze-out of the visco-elastic material from the periphery of the stamped products is eliminated by providing a protruding edge member projecting from one of: - (a) the laminate-contacting surface of a stamping punch; (b) the periphery of the hole of a stamping die; (c) the laminate-contracting surface of a member movable under resilient bias in the die hole; and penetrating the viscoelastic layer with the protruding edge.
