The rotating (4) and non-rotating mandrel (3) ends match the shape of the dished boiler end (1) in the central area. This is formed by pressing the non-rotating mandrel (3) against the surface of the blank. Rollers (4, 6) with contours to match the shape of the dished end are lmounted on shafts (9, 10) parallel to the shaft (8) of the rotating mandrel (4). Hemispherical rollers are then used to achieve the required form by pressing the blank against the rollers. This method of forming dished ends can be used to produce parts of semi-elliptical cross-section as well as hemispheres and maintains an even wall thickness over the entire surface.
|
