The paving-block is embedded in a road surface to mark a pedestrian crossing in the dark. It consists of a concrete base in the shape of a hollow parallelepiped with its upper surface open. A block of transparent material, such as glass, fits into the cavity in the base. The transparent block (2) has a T-shaped cross section with grooves (6, 7) into which fit seal lips (8, 9). Electrical sockets (12) are situated at each end of an inner passage (10) positioned in the block (2) and containing a strip light (11) which radiates light upwards. |
