The system for electrical operation of vehicle windows includes an element (5) consisting of a disc which is rotated by the electric motor which operates the window. This disc has a number of concentric annular tracks (6a - 6d). Each track is divided into a number of conductive segments, held at a given voltage, alternating with electrically insulating segments. Brushes (8a-8d) are provided to make contact with these tracks in order to provide a signal which changes state according to whether they lie over a conductive section or an insulating section of the track. The signals produced by these pick up brushes are then processed in order to determine the position to which the window drive motor, and hence the window glass, has moved. The high and low positions and their corresponding signal states may be memorised, in order to provide operational control of the window on future occasions as it is raised and lowered. |
