<p>Extrusion head with a variable outlet opening for continuously coating elongated bodies of undefined length, e.g. wires and electrical conductor, has (ae an extruder head housing with inlet and outlet ends for the flowing, plasticised coating material, (b) a guide tube arranged centrally inside the housing and having a lengthwise boring for the passage of the elongated body, the guide tube and the boring terminating in tapering nipple adjacent to the outlet end of the housing, and (c) an annular part arranged inside the housing adjacent to its outlet end at a radial distance from the tapering nipple, this part defining an annular outlet around the guide tube for the plasticised material, and being movable reciprocally relative to the guide tube to adjust the dimensions of the annular outlet. Gives rapid, precise adjustment of the thickness of the coating applied continuously to a rapidly moving elongated body.</p> |
