The electric lock is operated by coded keys (5) and incorporates micro-circuit-breaking change-over switches (1) with ball contacts (2). The balls (2) are located by a lower plate (3) to which a top plate (4) is fixed to delineate the keyway. The lock may be utilised in the recording of hours worked by individual employees, i.e. individual keys are inserted to register clocking on and off, and each key is coded to identify with a particular computer. The design of the lock extends the available range of key codings. One side of the switches (1) may be connected to relays controlling the opening or closing of computer-contacts. Each relay may be associated with one or several electric contacts, and each contact may relate to the circuit of an individual computer. The switches may be mounted on printed circuit boards thereby effecting the electrical connection with the computer or with the individual computers. The key (5) may be guided by ribs (6) in the top plate (4), and may have part spherical cavities which leave certain balls in the repose position.
