<p>PURPOSE:To recover high-purity sulfur by providing a washing tower consisting of a water spray and the succeeding packed tower between a desorption tower and a sulfur recovery system, removing the impurities in the desorbed gas in the washing tower and then sending the gas to the sulfur recovery system. CONSTITUTION:The desorbed gas discharged from the desorption tower 1 is passed through a duct 2 and firstly brought into contact with the water spray 3a in the washing tower 3 and NH4Cl, (NH4)2SO4, HF, etc., are washed off. Then the gas is brought into contact with the slid in the succeeding tower 3b packed with Raschig rings, etc., and NH4Cl, (NH4)2SO4, etc., are completely removed. The SO2-enriched desorbed gas discharged from the washing tower 3 is sent to the sulfur recovery system 4 and high-purity sulfur is recovered. The remaining tail gas is burned in an incinerator 5. makeup water is injected into the washing tower 3 at any time when the pH of a washing water tank 6 increases.</p> |
