The contact electrode is particularly for use in an electrocardiogram or electroencephalogram. It comprises a capsule (1) with an opening, around whose edge is a flat portion (5) for fixing to the surface to which the electrode is to be secured. The capsule accommodates a removable connecting plug (6), extending inside it and immersed in an electrically-conductive paste with which the capsule is filled, this forming a connection between the plug and the surface referred to. The plug can be secured in a first socket, on the capsule wall opposite the hole through which it is inserted.
