<p>The bridge pillar foundation for use under flowing water is formed to reduce or eliminate formation of pot-holes in the river bed in the vicinity of the foundation. The pillar (1) has a long concrete foundation with its sides parallel to the flow, and semi-circular rounded ends. The foundation has a flat upper surface (3) level with the river bed and oblique side and end faces (4). A set of vertical rods (5) of height 1/4 - 1/3 of the water depth protrude from the flat surface and surround the pillar. Flat baffle-plates (6) in a triangular formation may be used.</p> |
