The electromagnetically operated straight through valve has a closure piece (12) sliding between the inlet and outlet ends. The closure piece has an inner chamber through which the current flows axially, and is controlled by a channel which branches off the inflow connection, operated by the magnetic switch. The side channel (48, 50) leads to a pressure chamber (58) above a membrane (60) which engages on a piston (14) of the closure piece (12). The inner chamber (16) and the pressure chamber (58) are connected to each other by a throttle hole (70). The closure piece has a closed face side (18) with an inset sela (20), and narrows away to the face side. Radial holes (22) under this side connect the inner chamber (16) to a housing (10) throughflow chamber (24).
