1528109 Rotary switches AMP Inc 17 Sept 1976 [7 Oct 1975 1 June 1976] 38554/76 Heading H1N A rotary switch comprises a housing 1 and a rotor member 2 mounted therein for rotary movement, the housing 1 being formed with a resilient portion 6 which engages between fingers 5 on the periphery of the rotor 2 to determine a plurality of rotary positions thereof. As shown the housing has two resilient portions 6 which have projections 7 engaging between the radially extending fingers 5, another of which extends through an opening 10 for manual rotation of the rotor 2. The housing is preferably formed from synthetic plastics material with an integral boss 3 extending inwardly from a side wall 4 to carry the rotor 2. The rotor 2 has a contact member 12 (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) mounted on studs 11 and formed with resilient contact arms 13 for co-operation with fixed contacts (15, Fig. 4, not shown) on a printed circuit board (14) closing the side of the housing opposite to wall 4, the board (14) having holes (17) which receive the studs 18. In a second embodiment (Figs. 5, 6, and 7, not shown) the housing is closed at the rear by a wall (20) and the resilient portions 6 are enclosed by top and bottom walls (19); the rotor has an annular recess (21) with a radial division (22) thereacross to co-operate with a pin (24) selectively insertable in one of a plurality of holes (23) in wall 4 to limit the rotary movement of rotor 2. The housings may be formed with extensions (25) Fig. 8, not shown) and studs (26) projecting beyond the board (14) and the side of the wall 4 formed to receive similar projections of another housing so that a number of rotor assemblies may be engageable together, with the rotor axes coaxial. |
