<p>A new corticoid of the general formula (I) which has pronounced anti-inflammatory activity, and wherein X represents a .beta.-hydroxymethylene or carbonyl group, and R represents a hydrogen atom or a physiologically tolerable acyl group is produced by splitting hydrogen bromide from a compound of the general formula (II) wherein X and R have the above meanings. For example, 6.alpha.-fluoro-9.alpha.-bromo-11.beta.-hydroxy-21-hexanoyloxy-16.alpha.-methyl-.DELTA.1,4-pregnadiene-3,20-dione is heated in the presence of collidine to produce 6.alpha.-fluoro-11.beta.-hydroxy-21-hexanoyloxy-16.alpha.-methyl-.DELTA.1,4,8-pr egna-triene-3,20-dione.</p> |
