Grinding the inside surfaces of steelworks ingot moulds - using two grinding wheels mounted on swivel arm located on trolley

Grinding machine, esp. for grinding the inside surfaces of steelworks ingot moulds, using a trolley fitted with a pendulum mounting for a shaft (a) which can thus swivel sideways. Shaft (a) is hollow, and is used to drive two parallel grinding wheels which rotate in opposite directions on the outside of shaft (a) is a hollow spindle which rotates one grinding wheel. - In one pref. design, one grinding wheel is free to rotate on shaft (a) and is rotated via a set of bevel gears driven by a spindle inside shaft (a), and rotating the other grinding wheel; and in another design, each of the two grinding wheels is fitted on a spindle, the two spindles being joined by a coupling contg. two cardan joints. - The grinding wheels can be moved inside the ingot moulds in several directions, and the opposed rotation of the two grindings wheels reduces the torque on shaft (a).
