1525191 Slagging gasifiers BRITISH GAS CORP 1 March 1977 [28 May 1976] 22297/76 Heading C5E [Also in Division F4] In a slag tap gasifier having a burner 60 located beneath the slag tap orifice for directing a stream of hot combustion products up the orifice to retain the slag and iron in the hearth and to enable tapping of the molten slag by reducing the output of the burner, there is provided a burner ignition system comprising a neat gas nozzle burner located within the quench chamber, a gas supply tube 48 connected to the nozzle burner, and an ignition 44, 45 positioned adjacent the nozzle of the neat gas nozzle burner whereby, on ignition of the nozzle burner, a flame is directed towards the main burner 60 for ignition thereof; the arrangement is such that, in use, the nozzle burner is not contaminated by molten slag dripping from the orifice. |
