Soil probe sampling method - using pipe inserted into ground by vibrator fitted on spring supported bearer on frame

Method for obtg. a soil sample employs a frame and a vibrating block with which a pipe-shaped body is vibrated into the ground. When the pipe body reaches the required depth, it is withdrawn from the earth together with the sample which it has picked up. For the vibrating movement, a system is used whereby a vibrator is fitted on a bearer (6) which is spring supported on the frame. Between the bearer and the frame an intermediary space is present which is smaller than the amplitude of the vibrator. Where the sample is taken from under water, the vibrator (4) is composed of at least one electric motor which has eccentrically fitted masses (5) on its shaft, the unit being contained in a watertight casing (11).
