摘要 PURPOSE:To produce the subject compound in a high selectivity and in a high yield by reacting toluene with methane in the presence of O2 and a catalyst prepared by making carry an alkali metal oxide on a carrier selected from alkaline earth metal oxides, alkaline earth metal carbonates and rare earth metal oxides. CONSTITUTION:Toluene is reacted with methane in the presence of molecular oxygen and a catalyst prepared by carrying an alkali metal oxide on a carrier comprising one or more kinds of alkaline earth metal oxides, alkaline earth metal carbonates and rare earth metal oxides to provide benzene and styrene. The carrier is especially preferably a composition comprising the double oxides of Y2O3 and CaO. The reaction temperature is usually approximately 650-850 deg.C. The method enables to maintain the activity of the catalyst for a long time and achieve a high selectivity and a high yield.
