A frame for a tennis racket, badminton racket, etc., in which each face of the frame parallel to the plane of the racket comprises a continuous peripheral groove, is reinforced by filling each groove with a reinforcing element which adheres to the groove. The latter consits of a drawn extruded core of (in)organic fibres. pref. C, glass or aromatic polyamide fibres, in a thermosetting resin pref. epoxy, polyester or phenolic resin. Part of each reinforcing element pref. projects from the frame, and the frame is subsequently treated e.g. by sanding to provide an even surface. As the core has to be bent to the shape of the groove, it provides an opposed reaction force on the frame, increasing the resistance of the frame to deformation by traction applied by the string. |
