Well packer with rubber compression seal - above wedge system combined with hydraulic setting cylinder

A packer for deep wells with a double-acting wedge system and a rubber compression seal accommodates the latter between an upper and a lower sleeve. A wedge guide on the lower sleeve cooperates with the upper row of wedges; the lower row of wedges can be expanded by the conical top of a lower cylinder which is used to set the packer. This packer can be combined with the hydraulic setting mechanism. The production tubing need not be mechanically moved to set the packer which can be removed, if required, by a partial metal-cutting operation, without any risk of the packer shifting, followed by extraction of the remainder.
