Fast acting torque control circuit operates on the rate of change of torque to provide correction signals. The transmission input and the various outputs are each fitted with a generator to provide shaft speeds. The signals are processed by the improved control to determine torque increases which could cause transmission damage, and operate a safety cut-out to disconnect the drive. The monitor circuit operates on the rate of change of shaft speed so that a more responsive safety interlock is obtained.
