<p>A device for sepg. liquid and gaseous components of a gas mixture is intended esp. for a fuel flow. It comprises a cylindrical chamber with vertical axis, central inlet for the mixture and outlets at opposite ends for the gas and the liquid components. A piston floating in the cylindrical chamber, when displaced out of its central position, closes one or other of the outlets by control edges or ridges on the piston co-operating with control faces of the housing. Pref. the cylindrical chamber has a comparatively larger dia. in its central portion so that an annular chamber is formed around the piston, while the two end portions of the chamber are of smaller dia. The clearance of the end stubs of the piston in these end portions is less than that of the central portion so taht the end faces of the central part of the piston always overlap the control faces on the chamber. Effective separation of the liquid and gaseous components is achieved with a very compact construction not relying upon turbulence effects.</p> |
