<p>A fire-retardant resin contains (A) 1-98.9 wt. % of an aromatic copolyester, (B) 1-98.9% of a polyamide, (C) 0.1-98% of a polyalkylene phenylene ester or ester-ether, and (D) 0.5-50%, w.r.t. A+B+C, of an aromatic halogen cpd. (A) The polyester is prepd. from tere- and isophthalic acids, in molar ratio 9:1-1:9, and a bisphenol of formula where X is O, S, SOi, SO, CO or 1-5c alkyl(id)ene, and the R gps. are H, Cl, Br or 1-5C alkyl. (B) The polyamide has recurring units of formula -(CO-R5-NH-)n or -(CO-R6-CO-NH-R7-NH)-n, where the R gps. are 4-11C alkylene and n = 30-500. (C) The ester or ester-ether has recurring units of formula: in which the R gps. are H, Cl, Br or 1-5C alkyl, m is 1-10, n = 30-500, and Y is an ester or ether unit. The additive D does not affect the moulding, mechanical, chemical or electrical properties, or the heat stability, of the resin.</p> |
