<p>A refillable medical syringe comprises a hollow, cylindrical body contg. a piston which can be displaced by a rod extending from one end of the body to deliver syringe contents from a nozzle at the other end of the body. The nozzle end of the body is bottle-necked and the neck is plugged with a stopper which is formed as a nozzle at its outer end. The stopper has an axial passage right through from body chamber to nozzle tip. The stopper is pref. retained in place by a band crimped around mating annular flanges on the stopper and the outer end of the neck. The plug and the piston are pref. both made with an axial core of rigid material, e.g., metal, sleeved in rubber or synthetic elastomer. To prevent accidental loss of the piston, a coaxial washer is pref. crimped around a flange at the rod end of the body. The bottle neck is designed to fit a standard flask filler. Filling against piston displacement reduces plugging pressure and proportion of trapped air.</p> |
