The system prevents ice formation on the sides of open-air swimming baths, with consequent damage to concrete etc., using plastic plates mounted on the sides at the max. ice height expected. The plates are of the hollow multiple rib type, closed on all sides, thus forming an air cushion which also acts as an insulator. The plates can be produced by extrusion.
