<p>Deoxystreptamine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new: In the formula, R1 = H or 1-4C alkyl. R2 = NH2 or OH. One of R3 and R4 = H, the other is glycosyl. n = 4, 5 or 6. Cpds. (I) are prepd. e.g. by reducing corresp. amides having -NH.CO.CH(OH) in place of NHCH2CH(OH). (I) are antibacterials useful for treating Gram positive or negative infections in humans and animals. The usual human dose is 0.1-50mg/kg/day parenterally or 10-100mg/kg/day orally. The specifically claimed cpd. 1-N- (5)-2-hydroxy-6-aminohexyl -kanamycin A is prepd. by reducing 1-N- (5)-2-hydroxy-6-aminohexanoyl kanamycin A with B2H6.</p> |
