<p>The grooved railway line has two square and horizontally spaced heads (1, 2). The heads are monolithic with a common base plate (3) which seats the rail conventionally. The rail accepts rolling stock with either edge-flanged or centrally flanged wheels, and is designed for structural durability with ease of installation. The groove (9) accepts the flange of the wheel whilst the outer and larger head (1) accepts the rolling surface (4) of the wheel. The secondary or inner head (2) is of a lesser height than the other head (1), and may be of half its width or nominally less. The base plate extends horizontally beyond each head to form anchorage flanges (7, 8) and also forms the base of the groove (9).</p> |
