A woven safety strap includes two woven webs formed from two sets of weft yarns and a base warp yarns. The two woven webs are connected together by joining warp yarns which pass backwards and forwards between the two webs in different regions across the width of the strap. Pref. the regions where each joining warp yarn cross between the two webs are also spaced along the length of the belt. Under impact, the joining warp yarns progressively break, absorbing shock and reducing the pressure on a person wearing the safety strap. Pref. the joining warp yarns cross between the two webs in an irregular pattern, and pref. the base warp yarns have a length stretch capacity before breakage. The strap may be woven from polyester or polyamide yarns.
|
