Shifting filter plates in a filter press Displacement is effected by carriers which can be swivelled on guide rails either side of the filter press. The carriers take the form of a ratchet with an oblique gliding surface and carrier surface. A spring behind a shoulder engages with the slideable plate, and a shiftable back-stop counteracts the force of the spring. This is supported against the next plate in sequence when the spring is relaxed.
