<p>1487222 Halogenated carbonates as flame retardants CHEMETRON CORP 6 Sept 1974 [17 Sept 1973] 39076/74 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Polymers exemplified by ABS, polypropylene and polystyrene are rendered flame resistant by incorporation therein of a compound of Formula I wherein a and b are 0 or integers from 1 to 12; c, d, m and p are 0 or 1; n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 10; each X is independently a halogen atom selected from Cl, Br and F; R is a C 5-10 cycloaliphatic; C 4-5 cyclooxaaliphatic or cyclothiaaliphatic or C 7-10 bi- or tricycloaliphatic radical; R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-7 straight or branched alkylene radical; R<SP>2</SP> is a C 2-6 alkylene, arylene, alkarylene, aralkylene, aralkarylene, alkaralkylene radical having 6-15 carbon atoms, or an alkoxyalkylene, alkoxyarylene, aryloxyalkylene or aryloxyarylene radical; R<SP>3</SP> is a C 5-8 cycloaliphatic, C 4 or C 5 cyclo-oxa-or thiaaliphatic or C 7-12 bi- or tri-cycloaliphatic radical and R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are divalent halocyclopentenyl radicals in which the valences are pendant from separate carbon atoms adjacent to the double bond carbon atoms and are attached to adjacent carbon atoms of R; the sum of a+b+c+a being greater than zero.</p> |
