The overlap height of a wing is smaller in wooden frames than in plastic frames. When a turn-and-tilt wing is supported at its upper end by means of a scissor mechanism, this necessitates for a wooden wing a scissor mechanism different from that for a plastic wing on account of the differing overlap height. However, the scissor mechanism can be used for wings of different material if its effective length can be varied. To provide a scissor mechanism in which the effective length of the set-out arm can be varied, the scissor bar (7) is made in two parts, the two bar parts (8, 9) then being connected to one another rotatably and fixably via an adjusting shaft (11) parallel to the scissor-bearing shaft (10). The connection can be made non-positively or positively. Expediently, the two bar parts (8, 9) are connected to one another via a coupling (17) engageable in the longitudinal direction of the adjusting shaft (11), arcuate toothed quadrants (22, 23) being used for the positive coupling. <IMAGE>
