The equipment dampens the effect of waves on a structure (1) with a vertical wall (6). Screens (2) of limited width are mounted vertically at a set height above the wall, with intervals (4) between them, and each screen is joined to the structure by a cross-wall (3) to form chambers between screens and structure. Narrow passages (7, 9) connect the chambers with the rear of the structure, through the cross-walls, typically in the form of passages in them. There can be several passages, one above the other, in each wall.
