The timber skeleton frame, for a multi-storey building, has a ceiling panel for each storey's floor-ceiling, and a roof truss framework, and columns bearing these. The ground floor ceiling panel and the roof framework (9), at least, are attached to monolithic columns which pass right through to the foundations. The columns bearing the roof framework may be set outside the ceiling panels, and laterally fastened to these, pref. by means of peripheral beams on the ceiling panels serving to support the upper storey masonry. This is easily constructed, and uses comparatively little timber.
