The earth-retaining system comprises horizontal revetment plates (5) which are tied (2) back into the retained soil (Z), and may be used to effect steep side slopes in excavations (E) of diverse materials. The tie-bars (2) are externally threaded (3) and are screwed into place by means of an enlarged hexagonal head (1). The tie-bars (2) may be of round or polygonal section and the thread (3) may be cut in the bar or alternatively raised above the bar surface. The leading end of the bar may have an elliptical appendage promoting penetration into the soil. The revetment or anchorage plates (5) may be of horizontally elongated elevation, be placed at vertical intervals down the side of the excavations, and have shear keys projecting from the retaining face.
|
