A system is used for extracting almost purely sinusoidal mains-frequency current from a.c. voltage or three-phase voltage mains. It transfer the obtained electrical energy into electrically coupled d.c. voltage systems or d.c. voltage intermediate systems, without losses dependent on the design principle used. The supply a.c. voltage mains terminals are connected to an input filter, an uncontrolled rectifier, a boost-converter and the d.c. voltage system or d.c. voltage intermediate system. The boost-converter has at least one electric choke and one diode in boths its long limbs, the latter being connected together via an electronic switch. The d.c. voltage or d.c. voltage intermediate system's voltage is greater than that of the a.c. voltage supply mains, and the switch-over frequency of the electronic switch is high relative to that of the supply a.c. voltage mains.
