The stabilising device is designed to distribute part of the load at the end of the trailer beam to the level of the towing ball. This enables the front and back wheels of the towing vehicle and the wheels of the trailer to act against cornering and sway and also improve the braking. The device consists of a leaf spring maintained perpendicular to the towing ball by a stirrup or support plate. The spring is connected at its other end through a rigid tension member positioned at the centre of the transverse bar spanning between the two arms comprising the trailer beam. The transverse bar has flexible coupling at each end.
